No doubt winemaker Ángel Anocíbar knows well the intricacies of Abadía Retuerta, in Ribera del Duero. That’s why we have asked him to show us around this beautiful winery.
It is quite unusual to see Ángel Anocíbar in the spotlight -he prefers to spend the days in his laboratory and among the vines. He has worked very closely with Pascal Delbeck, who oversaw the study of Abadía Retuerta’s soils and winegrowing and still consults for the winery. Located just outside the boundaries of Ribera del Duero, this is one of the most impressive ventures in the Douro area in Spain thanks to its vast surface under vine and its magnificent abbey which has been transformed into a Relais & Châteaux luxury hotel.
This video was filmed in mid-September, just before the first grapes from the 2014 vintage were picked at Abadía Retuerta’s.
