890 Selección Especial Gran Reserva 2001 Tinto

La Rioja Alta, Rioja

Deep ruby colour with orange rim. Fruit compote aromas (prunes, dried apricots), aromatic herbs, sweet spices (cinnamon), cigar box, fine leather. Complex and almost hypnotic on the nose. The wine is really smooth on the palate with round tannins, but still feels a bit closed. Despite its great acidity, juiciness and persistence, there is plenty of room for development. 15,900 bottles were made. This is the first vintage for this Gran Reserva to be labelled "Selección Especial". 18.0 points
