The grapes for this single-vineyard Xarel.lo are sourced from old bush vines grown next to an ancient Romanesque chapel in the Marquis of Monistrol’s former estate in Penedès. Aging times are not that extreme, but after 48 months this Cava offers remarkable balance, finesse and tension. The nose displays exuberant aromas (exotic fruit, almond blossom) followed by toasted, aniseed notes and a hint of petrol. Fantastic acidity and length; still a young Cava. A great discovery. 17.5 points
