With the beginning of April practically coinciding with the end of Easter, many wine-related activities in Spain take place in wineries such as Bàrbara Forés in Terra Alta or Vivid in Empordà. From the second week of April onwards, activities multiply for wine lovers with festivals such as VinoFest in Pamplona, the natural wine fair Vella Terra or the show Vinos de España, Una Pasión in Jerez. Don't forget to check this agenda again in the middle of the month when the activities are updated.

Throughout April. The Empordà welcomes a new edition of Vivid, with a month full of wine tourism activities for all tastes, such as a pairing of wine and flowers, a tasting about Dali and wine, a vertical tasting of Vinyes d’Olivardots Blanc de Gresa as well as vineyard lunches and dinners, visits to wineries, hiking, music and workshops. The price varies depending on the activities, which take place in various locations in the region.

2-3 April. Madrid wine bar La Caníbal (Argumosa, 28) has invited Olga Verde, winemaker and director of the Bierzo Enoturismo Association, who will present a tasting of Bierzo wines. Time: 17:45 Price: 18 € The following day at La Grifería (Antonio de Leyva, 2) Maite Sánchez will host a tasting of the wines that Arrayán makes in Sierra de Gredos and Méntrida. 3, 13, 16, 17 and 19 April. Tiempos Líquidos wine bar in Burgos (San Gil, 5), owned by sommeliers Diego González and Laura Rodríguez, presents this month several tastings accompanied by snacks or dinner: wines from the Czech Republic (3th, 20:00, €50), tasting of the little greats of Castilla y León (13th and 17th, 17:00 and 20:00 respectively, €50), dinner with Llopart sparkling wines (16th, 20:45, €50) and Liquid Encounter with Felipe of Rías Bajas in Gijón (29th, 20:00): Bookings: hola@tiemposliquidos.com or by phone on +34 678 336960

4 April. At its location on the outskirts of Madrid, Lavinia wine bar (CC Moraleja Green. Av. de Europa, 13) presents a tasting of Alta Pavina wines, a winery near the Duero River that grows Pinot Noir, among other varieties. Time: 19:00 - 20:30 Price: €30

4, 9, 17, 18, 22 and 26 April. Vila Viniteca presents several tastings this month at its stores in Barcelona (Agullers, 7 and Villarroel, 209): the wines of Celler Credo and Recaredo with sommelier Macarena Muñoz (4th, 20:30, €39); high elevation wines (9th, 20:00, €59), Bullipedia tasting with Ferran Centelles about the origin and evolution of wine (17th, 20:00, €99), Viñedos y Bodegas Sierra Cantabria wines with Andrea Miró (18th, 20:00, €39), a starter session about Burgundy (22nd, 20:00, €120) and pairing of French cheese and wines (26th, 21:00, €99).

6, 20 and 21 April. Bàrbara Forés, producer in Terra Alta, resumes its Tast de Primavera with a walk through the vineyard La Sendroseta, a taste of five of its wines and a visit to the manor house that accommodates the winery, located in Gandesa (Tarragona). 11 April. The Rioja Alavesa Wine Route has invited Ricardo Sanchoyarto, sommelier and owner of the blog Aprender de Vino, to lead a tasting of wines from Portugal. The site where the tasting will be held is still unknown. Time: 16:00-19:00 Price: €57.72 

12 April. WineCrush, a new club for wine lovers with personalised recommendations, presents this month in Barcelona a Private Tasting with between 40 and 50 wines selected by Patricia Ferruz, DipWSET to be tasted at your leisure. Wines include cava Can Sala Gran Reserva 2008, champagne Jacqueson 746, Dominio de Bibei Lalume 2020, Las Orcas Trikuharri 2019, Sangenís i Vaqué Coranya 2015, El Escocés Volante Cismático 2020 or Raúl Pérez Kolor 2020. 12-13 April. The eleventh edition of Vinofest, the wine festival of Navarra wines, is being held in Pamplona with around 20 wineries from the appellation presenting their wines at the Baluarte Congress Centre. Some of the producers at the event include Amatria, Máximo Abete, Inurrieta, San Martín, Pago de Cirsus, Azul y Garanza, Tandem or Viña Zorzal. Opening hours: Friday 17:00-20:00 and Saturday 11:30-14:30 and 17:00-20:00. Price (includes glass): €15.

12, 14, 16, 18 and 25 April. Lust for Wine, a wine education centre in Burgos directed by Pilar Cruces, presents its programme of events this month starting on the 12th with Dinner Sounds on France at La Raspa in Aranda de Duero (21:00, €50) and continuing with a morning session (12:30-13:45, €35) of international wines to learn how to taste blind at the Burgos location (Plaza Alonso Martínez, 7A, Office 57). "Te leo un Vino" at Música y Deportes in Paseo del Espolón, 16 (19:30, €8) will be on the 16th while on the 18th and 25th Pilar will conduct a seminar about wines from Cádiz at Lust for Wine (20:30, €45) and at La Pícara Gastroteca (€35) in Aranda de Duero (C. 14 April. Diámetro 200, a restaurant in Hernani near San Sebastian, is hosting a new edition of Biba Azoka, the Basque Country's organic and natural wine fair with producers from the French and Spanish side. There will also be wine, cheese and oil and a shop to buy at cellar prices, as well as a bar and restaurant service and a dinner with the vignerons (€30). Time: 11:00 - 18:00 Price: €10

15 and 29 April. The Verema Experience travels to Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Iberostars Gran Mencey hotel) and Malaga (Miramar hotel) this month with a show with about 20 exhibitors and commented tastings by the Sogrape Group and Sabor a Malaga. Times: 12:00-15:00 and 17:00 to 21:00 Price: €20 online (€30 at the door)

16 and 23 April. Coalla wine shop in Gijón hosts a couple of tastings this month. The first, on the 16th, will feature the Mediterranean wines of Gutiérrez de la Vega and Curii while on the 23rd guests will be taken on a liquid tour of wine-producing islands such as the Canary Islands, the Azores, Madeira, New Zealand and Sicily. 17 and 24 April. Enotoca Barolo in Madrid (Príncipe de Vergara, 211) presents several activities this month, including a tasting of single vineyard champagnes and a pairing of Cantabrian anchovies with white wines from Europe. Time: 20:30 Price: €65 and €55 respectively.

18 abril. The restaurant La Cofradía del Renegado in San Vicente de la Sonsierra (La Rioja) presents a tasting and dinner with eight wines from Jerez selected and presented by Iván Sánchez, a member of the Martes of Wine group of producers and sommelier at Venta Moncalvillo. 19 April. The Institute of Vine and Wine Sciences (ICVV) of Logroño presents a lecture at the Salón de Actos Finca La Grajera, Logroño. Imparted by Dr. Manuel Suárez Recio, from the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology of the Rovira i Virgili University, the lecture is entitled "Interaction of biological rhythms with polyphenols". Time: 11:30 Registration is not required. Free admission.

19-20 April. In partnership with the Fundación para la Cultura del Vino, the Institute of Masters of Wine in London presents an introductory course on the Master of Wine syllabus to be held at Bodegas Muga in Haro (La Rioja). The activity will be conducted in English and involves the participation of several MWs. It is aimed at people interested in enrolling in this programme, although it is not required to meet the requirements for the Master of Wine. The price is €650 and includes two lunches and one dinner, but does not include transport or accommodation.

20-28 April. El Molar, a village in Tarragona province, presents El Molar Música i Vi, a festival featuring jazz, blues and pop poetry sounds combined with wines from local producers such as Orto Vins, Edetaria, Costers del Priorat, Clos Galena, Clos Berenguer, Los Comuns, Can Blau and Cooperativa El Molar. 25 April. The tenth edition of Wines of Spain A Passion returns to Jerez (Bodega Don Jorge, Museo de la Atalaya, Cervantes, 3) with the presence of more than 50 wineries from around 20 different areas of the country such as Zárate, Abadía Retuerta, Coto de Gomáriz, Recaredo, Emilio Hidalgo (organiser of the event), Fernando de Castilla, Bernabeleva, Raúl Pérez, Bat Gara, Suertes del Marqués, Mauro and Álvaro Palacios, among many others. Time: 11:30 to 15:00 and 17:15 to 20:30 Price: €38.

27 and 28 April. Horkasitas Palace in Balmaseda (Bizkaia) hosts Wine Identity, a wine fair with commented tastings, presentations and producers presenting wines such as Clunia, Aseginolaza Leunda, Celler Frisach, Bodegas Menade, Primitivo Collantes, Raúl Bello Rodríguez, Cavas Maria Rigol Ordi, Celler Dumenge and Casa Jou, Alfredo Egia Vigneron, Anima Mundi, Alegre Valgañón and Barbarot, among others. Hours: Saturday: 11:00 to 15:30 and 18:00 to 21:00 Sunday: de 11:00 to 15:30 Price: €10 Tastings: €7 

29 April. The Vella Terra fair returns to Barcelona this weekend with around 90 producers from several European countries who will be showcasing their natural and low-intervention wines. Among the locals will be Alfredo Arribas, Celler La Salada, Mas Candí, Porcellanic, Loxarel, Verónica Romero, Constantina Sotelo, Gratias, Azpillaga Urarte and many more.
